Rabi-ul-Awwal moon has been sighted and Eid-Milad-un-Nabi will be celebrated on 1st December 2017 in Pakistan.
A moon-sighting meeting was held in Karachi at the office of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) by Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. The Chairman of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneebur Rehman presided the meeting.
All the participants’ part of the meeting unanimously agreed on the sighting of the fresh crescent. They announced Eid-Milad-un-Nabi celebration on the 1st of December 2017.
Members of the zonal committee and Met Office attended the meeting.
Eid Milad-un-Nabi is also called as Prophet Muhammad’s (P.B.U.H) birthday. On 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal Sunni Muslims observe Eid-Milad-un-Nabi. There is a dispute among scholars to celebrate Eid-Miladun-Nabi or not, some feel that there is no proof from Prophet Mohammad’s life of celebrating events like anniversaries or birthdays while others feel that such events should be celebrated.
